Does the adherence score include all pharmacy data or just CaryRx data?

The adherence score displayed in OneDash is calculated using all prescription data from both prescriptions filled at CaryRx and all other pharmacies.

Are all medications used to calculate the adherence score?

No, only chronic medications are utilized for the calculation of adherence to ensure an accurate score is presented. This is tracked via a medications GPI. As an example, Ibuprofen will not count towards a patients adherence score but Atorvastatin will.

What is the formula to calculate the adherence score?

We utilize the proportion of days covered (PDC) method to calculate adherence.

% Adherence Score = 100 * (Sum of days supply filled (all refills and fills within a GPI subclass) / total numbers of days in period (total days since date of first fill of that GPI subclass))

We utilize a medications GPI class & subclass to track adherence which ensures a patient is still deemed adherent if a dose is altered or medication is substituted within the same class.

What is considered a good adherence score?

A score of 80% is generally recognized as adherent according to the pharmacy quality alliance (PQA). Scores of 80% or higher will be displayed in the color green in OneDash.
